OJ Simpson transferred from Vegas to Nevada prison

A state corrections official says O.J. Simpson has arrived at a Nevada prison.

Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Susanne Pardee says Simpson arrived Monday morning at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs.

The all-male medium security prison is about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas. It has 3,000 beds and serves as the intake center for new southern Nevada prison inmates.

The 61-year-old Simpson was sentenced Friday to nine to 33 years on 10 charges in a September 2007 confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers over items that the former football star claimed were stolen from him.

A co-defendant, 54-year-old Clarence "C.J." Stewart, was sentenced to 7 1/2 to 27 years. He remained Monday at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

Goldman's family: Simpson prison time is `karma'

O.J. Simpson's rambling apology in a Las Vegas courtroom was the last-ditch bid for leniency by a "monster," the family of Ron Goldman said Monday.

"I don't believe for one single second he has an ounce of remorse in his body," Fred Goldman said on NBC's "Today." "He's never apologized for anything that he's horribly done in his life."

Goldman said Simpson's emotional, five-minute plea Friday over his confrontation last year with sports memorabilia dealers was that of "a monster who was simply trying to find a way to get the judge to give him a better deal."

Simpson was sentenced to 9 to 33 years in prison on 12 charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery, in the confrontation over collectibles that the former football star insisted were stolen from him.

Simpson's Oct. 3 conviction with a co-defendant in the Las Vegas case came 13 years to the day after he was cleared in the slaying of Ron Goldman and Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.

"Some sort of karma. And good karma," Fred Goldman said Monday of the conviction on that anniversary. "It is remarkable that, ultimately, now, we have seen him go to jail."

In a 1997 civil trial, Simpson was found liable for the deaths and ordered to pay a $33.5 million judgment to the victims' families.

Ron Goldman's sister, Kim Goldman, called Simpson's Las Vegas sentencing a "good day for us. ... It's been a long time coming."

O.J. Simpson sentenced to 15 years in prison

O.J. Simpson was sentenced to 15 years in prison a few moments ago in Las Vegas.

Simpson addressed the court with an impassioned plea where he tried to portray himself as a confused and innocent victim in all of this. In short, he claimed he didn't know he was doing anything illegal.

In the end, his pleas fell on deaf ears and a strict sentence was handed down.

A broken O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery by a judge who rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity."

Simpson stood stone-faced Friday when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.

"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," he said.

Glass ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.
